  3. Readme.txt File for CD Player for Windows v 1.0.

  5. INTRODUCTION:
  6.  
  7.    Thank you for choosing CD Player for Windows. CD Player 
  8.    is distributed in two testware forms:
  9.  
  10.    The first, the larger of the two, contains all files, 
  11.    including VBRUN100.DLL, and a complete setup program.  
  12.    This larger file is approximately 314,000 bytes long 
  13.    in its zipped mode (due to size of VBRUN).
  14.   
  15.    The second, is much smaller as it contains only those
  16.    files needed to execute the program and its help file.
  17.    The second file assumes that the user has knowledge of 
  18.    both DOS and Windows, and can easily place the 
  19.    necessary files where they belog, by following the 
  20.    instructions here in this file.

  22.    The second file was created primarily to speed up 
  23.    download transfers for those who had a working knowledge
  24.    of their Windows system.  This file is approximately
  25.    114,000 bytes long.

  27.    If you have downloaded or acquired the condensed version 
  28.    of the zip, please follow the instructions below for 
  29.    installation.

  32. FOR USERS WITH THE SMALL ZIPPED VERSION (5 Files):

  34.    We assume that you know enough about directory trees
  35.    and structures that you will be able to carry the 
  36.    following out,...

  38.    If you don't have VBRUN100.DLL, you must acquire it 
  39.    from either a friend, or a service like Compuserve.
  40.    VBRUN100.DLL should be located in your Windows 
  41.    directory.
  42.  
  43.    The files included in this zip are:

  45.    CDPLAYER.EXE (Program File)
  46.    CDPLAYER.HLP (The CD Player Windows Help File)
  47.    MCI.VBX
  48.    PICCLIP.VBX
  49.    README.TXT (This File!)

  51.    Copy "Picclip.vbx" and "Mci.vbx" to your Windows\System 
  52.    directory.  The other three files, CDPLAYER.EXE, 
  53.    CDPLAYER.HLP, and README.TXT can be put in any
  54.    subdirectory you like.

  56.    That's all there is to it.  Just add it to one of your
  57.    Program Manager groups, and you're ready to go!

  59. FOR USERS WITH THE LARGE ZIPPED VERSION (11 Files):

  61.    This zip file contains all software necessary to do a  
  62.    regular Windows setup.  Unzip the file to a clean 
  63.    diskette.  This can be either a 3.5 " 720 or 1.44 MB
  64.    disk, or a High Density 5.25" Floppy.  All necessary 
  65.    files WILL NOT FIT ON A Double Sided/Double Density 
  66.    5.25" diskette.

  68.    Or, you can unzip the files to a clean directory on
  69.    your hard disk drive.

  85.    To install CD Player for Windows, go to the File or
  86.    Program Manager, choose the file menu, then the Run
  87.    menu option.  When the program prompts you for the file
  88.    name to run, type in either...

  90.    A:\setup (if your setting up from the "A" floppy drive)
  91.  
  92.    B:\setup (if you are installing from a "B" floppy drive)
  93.  
  94.       or...
  95.  
  96.    (DriveLetter) :\ (DirectoryName) \setup (if you unzipped
  97.       to a hard disk directory.

  99.    Then follow the prompts as they come along.  Setup will
  100.    walk you through the installation, step by step.  All
  101.    defaults have been set for you, so if you're satisfied
  102.    with the choices that are presented, follow the 
  103.    instructions in the setup program.

  106. LIMITATIONS:
  107.  
  108.    CD Player, before it's registered, has one restriction.  
  109.    The program will only allow you to save 4 cataloged 
  110.    CD's.  Of course, this limitation, as well as the start 
  111.    up screen, will be eliminated upon registration.

  113.    Another limitation, purposely inserted, is that ANY
  114.    version of CD Player for Windows, regardless of 
  115.    whether or not it's registered, can only save 20
  116.    selected track for each CD.

  121.    You can register the basic program by printing the 
  122.    registration form from the intro screen, filling it 
  123.    out, and sending it with your payment of $24.95 for
  124.    just the registration, or $42.95 if you want the 
  125.    complete version with manual per registration (NY 
  126.    State residents please add sales tax) to:
